Fort St. James
is located on the shore of Stuart Lake, about a two hour drive from Prince George
in central B.C. It is most known for the National Historic Site, a restored Hudson's Bay Co.
Trading Post. This was also the capital city of New Caledonia, which later became
British Columbia. The area has many fishing and hunting resorts, and many
outdoor recreation destinations. The road continues on to historic gold
mining towns like Germansen and Manson's Landing.
Reach Fort St. James by turning north at Vanderhoof on Hwy 16, onto Hwy 27.
